What was the best shore excursion that you took in a port?

One of my favorites was an adventure one where we  jumped into a pool of water at a waterfall, then went snorkeling at another location and finally went body boarding in the ocean all before we boarded our ship in Hawaii.  I looked a mess when getting on the ship but it was a really fun experience.  And I slept well that night.

Best yet..... Cartegena, Old City horse and buggy tour. Followed by a close second of Panama Rain forest tour. Third place, snorkelling in Cabo San Lucas.

We took the walking tour of Cartegena and saw the horse & buggy tour go right by us.  In one of the carriages was a friend of ours and I was able to get a good photo of her.  If I get the chance I'll take that Panama Rain Forest tour.  I'll be going there next winter.  Thanks for replying!

I would have to say #1 was Hiking up to the top of Mt. Vesuvius and looking into the caldera at the top of the volcano then a tour of Pompeii  (the elevation and thin air reminded me I'm no longer in my 20's..... or 30's) The bus ride down the mountain on the old Roman roads was a white knuckler.  The bus driver was going fast and laying on the horn as we came to each curve all the time on his cell phone having an argument yelling in Italian.   #2 The Acropolis and temple of Zeus in Athens.  #3 The Gaudi tour in Barcelona Spain.

I would add the Tower of London,  but that was not an excursion,  We just went while we were staying in London for a couple weeks after a cruise.

Maho Beach St Martin.  It blew me away.  Literally.

Thanks for all the photos. I also enjoyed being at Maho Beach to watch the planes flying overhead.  Talk about blowing sand...

For us (so far) it had to be when we visited Mahogany Bay (Isla Roatan) aboard the Carnival Dream. We rented a cabana on the private part of the beach. We even had our own waiter, water toys, rope hammock and an air conditioned cabana that was like a mini livingroom!!

We toured Aruba by jeep. We did the same tour as the tour buses in a jeep convoy. It was a lot of fun, and we were filthy from the offroads driving when we got back to the ship.

I'm not sure I can pick one... here are my top three though

1. In the Steps of the Godfather - Sicily. For two Godfather movie afficionados, we could not pass on this opportunity.  The villages of Savoca and Forza d'Agro were simply beautiful.

2. Cozumel's Dolphin encounter with my sister Patty.  It was a wonderful experience to share with her and we got some time with a juvenile dolphin-in-training.  That was really sweet.

3. Walking tour of Pompeii (Port stop = Naples) was humbling. Especially coming into the city center ruins and seeing Vesuvius in the distance.

(Tried including pictures but unfortunately, technology is not my friend today)
