What's the best beach(es) you've ever been to?

I'm wondering what everyone's favorite beaches are. What's the best beach you've ever been to in your life? Can be from during a cruise or somewhere ships don't go. Why did you love it? I'm curious!

For me, it was at the Catalonia resort near La Romana, Dominican Republic. The resort itself wasn't anything super special, but the water was SO warm and clear and perfect. The waves weren't big and I could have lived there just for that beach.

I am going to say the boat yard on Carlisle bay in Barbados. Its a short distance from the port with crystal clear water and super soft white sand. You get a lounger with umbrella for like $10.00. This includes a short boat ride maybe a couple hundred yards out to snorkel with turtles. Last two times there I saw our CD drinking at the bar. I am also a fan of 7 mile on Grand Cayman. Love beach days.

Half Moon Cay. Gorgeous beach--no vendors to hassle you. We had kids and grands with us last time we were there so we rented a cabana, mostly for the private bathroom. Well worth the cost.

One of my favourites is the Baths on Virgin Gorda. Absolutely love it. To get there we took a ferry from Tortola.

Laguna Beach CA. Vacationed here since I was a child, it is a bout 2 hours from Los Angeles. Back in the 60's it had its hippy area. It is still very active in the art community with art fairs, lots of art studios, The Pageant of The Master and the Sawdust Festival.

I also love being in Moro Bay about 4 hours north of Los Angeles. Great water front area with fishing boats and restaurants with catch of the day fresh sea food.

Kapalua Bay in Maui. Just a beautiful place.

The beaches where I grew up. White Meadow Lake, Rockaway, NJ

1 lake, 3 beaches. Plus 2 pools.

this is apparently what happens as we age. We reminisce.

I have many beautiful lakes in my area (Finger Lakes) but the one closest to me is full of zebra mussels :( It's not very fun to swim and get a half inch-deep cut on your foot. Trust me, I know! But some of the others are nice for swimming. As far as beaches go for me though, the ocean takes the cake. :)

Believe me, these were not pristine beaches. 2 of them sometimes had barely any sand. The lake itself would barely pass testing. But many summer days were spent there as a kid.

The best? Probably Half Moon Cay, Bahamas. But others that were also super nice include Carlisle Bay in Bermuda, Virgin Gorda in BVI, and Horseshoe Bay in Bermuda.
