what is your favorite Caribbean port and why? I have only sailed the western Caribbean. We want to do the eastern and southern.
What is your favorite Caribbean port.
Barbados. Not as windy as Aruba and greener. Enjoyed the people and beaches as well as the food. It offers a lovely mix of provincial and island life.
I'm wondering who is going to be the first to answer Bermuda .
I like Antigua btw. But Barbados was really nice too.
I really do love them all for different reasons. I have not been to a place yet that I did not find something to like about it. If I have to pick a favorite, then it is San Juan Puerto Rico. Some day I would love to take a cruise that leaves from there. I love walking around Old San Juan. Great way to get my exercise, and sight seeing at the same time.
I can't say for certain, but we recently had a stop in St Croix and I absolutely loved it! We did not have a planned excursion, so I did not see a lot of the island. I had much less of a commercial cruise port feel and felt just like a local town. No name brand shops at all. Just locals and beaches. Quiet. As much as I enjoyed it, I heard a lot of other passengers complaining about the fact that there wasn't enough to do. Go figure. Can't wait to go back and see the rest of the island.
Thanks everyone, time to book a Caribbean cruise!
Having only sailed the Western Caribbean, I am hard pressed to find my "most favorite".
Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Honduras and Belize all had something nice to offer.
Cozumel would, however, rate as my "least favorite". The entire port area is too commercialized with Carnival (CCL) holdings (having only sailed Carnival and Princess. Perhaps RCCL may have better experience.)
I think that whichever Caribbean port that I am in is my favorite. But I do have a special feeling for St. Thomas. The port is beautiful, the color of the water is something that you have to experience and the beaches are terrific. I always can't wait to return. I don't say that about many other ports. A boat trip to St. John's is always a treat no matter how many times I take it.
Another favorite is Granf Turk. I have already taken the island and there wasn't too much to see. What I enjoy there is going to the beach and to the beautiful pool. Shopping is available in the little shopping village and they have fait prices and good merchandise. I love listening to the DJ at Margaretaville and enjoying a tropical drink under the shade of a palm tree. Doesn't get much better for me.
