What do you bring that might be considered, unusual ?

we bring a small roll of packing shrink wrap.

we wrap our luggage with it before we leave home, and before we get off the ship.  It also helps when we have to stack pieces for Debarkation.

we get everything from strange looks to, people pointing saying its a great idea..

as as far as leaving your luggage unlocked , never.   We lock it, and wrap it.   If they want to get in to see something, they call us down.   The airline thieves have never opened our bags either.

I'm probably one of the ones giving you the funny look thinking that it was a great idea!

Unfortunately, I'm too lazy to go through the wrapping procedure. And although locks won't keep the thieves (or Customs) out of the bag, it is a good deterrent. I always lock the bags, even the soft-sided zipper style bags.

We bring a stash of peanut butter-filled pretzels for the cabin. Also, Command refrigerator clips to place on the mirror. Great for keeping the daily newsletter and cruise cards. Avoids having to go through everything on the desktop because you can't find your card.

a set of walkie talkies.  That way if my wife decided to go off and do something on her own, while I am in the pool enjoying something frosty, I can find her once I am ready to get out  :)

A magnet and a spray bottle.  The walls are all magnetic so I hang paper I don't want to misplace on the wall.  I keep the spray bottle filled with water in the fridge and take with when I'm traveling in hot climates for a refreshing spritz now and then.

what kind of walkie talkies do you recommend?

I often take "bubbles".  I like to have something to send into the air as we sail-away from port (any port) and bubble don't cause any problems.  Years ago, on could throw confetti, but that made a mess for house keeping and is no longer allowed because it pollutes the ocean (bay, harbor, etc.) I have admired Bennett's shrink wrap for years.

I have a set of Motorola units which have 3 channel options. My wife and I used them quite a bit.

So just coming off of our cruise I can say that we brought a Glade Plug in.. So glad that we did because the bathroom smelled like mildew.

I also had someone suggest bringing a spray bottle with vinegar for sunburn but that suggestion came way too late.Crying
