Weddings & Vow Renewals at sea

Ever attended or planned a wedding (or vow renewal) on board a cruise ship? What were some of the plusses and minuses? Would you do it again?

A wedding on a glacier! Now that would be memorable.

Witnessed a few but never participated. All in the party seemed to be enjoying themselves.

My wife and I will be renewing our vows for our 10 year anniversary onboard Symphony OTS in April 2020.

I took the time, and priced it out, for our sailing party of 13(including us). RCI wanted $1900 for:

- Officiant

- Wedding Planner Day Of, and pre-cruise

- Pre-Recorded music

- Champagne Toast

- Stateroom Decorations

- Breakfast In bed on 1 morning

- Dinner for the 2 of us in a specialty restaurant on one night

- Use of a on-board venue for 45-60 min

- Dedicated Photographer for the duration of the venue use

- 2 layer cake.

I politely, yet firmly told them where they could shove their Package.

Instead, one of my sailing mates will be the officiant, his girlfriend(a professional wedding photographer) will be taking the pictures, and my wife's maid of honor will be doing the rest of the organizing for me. On the First formal night, we plan to find a nice quiet spot for 15-20 min or so, and send 2-3 people to the bar with everyone's SeaPasses to collect the champagne toast.
