Water Out Of NY In The Summer

We booked a cruise out of NY in July down to the Caribbean. I know a lot depends on the weather, but we're contemplating two different rooms, one on deck 6, one on deck 11. The one on 11 comes with some spa perks, but I'm concerned the rough water coming out of NY may make it really tough to sleep and on a family member who gets motion sickness.

Anyone have any thoughts?

We have sailed out of NY 4 times now (3 from Manhattan and 1 from Bayonne) and only once had issue with rough seas. We have sailed in late January, late October, mid November and mid December. The only time we had any real rough seas was on the late October one as we left Manhattan 2 hours before the port closed for incoming Sandy. That night was a bit rough but nothing too serious. Other than that and light to moderate seas was the heaviest we have had.

We also sailed from Boston to the Caribbean in late October and that was the smoothest calmest seas we have had on any cruise.

Should be fine.
