Walking around a ship in a bathrobe

Ok... On our recent cruises, we've come across something we considered a bit odd. Not sure this has been discussed here before. Two times in our last four cruises there has been a male passenger (different guy) walking around the ship in his bathrobe. I'm not talking about walking to/from the pool area or spa. Nope, I mean he did it in the 24 hour cafe, the buffet area, library, Internet cafe, etc. He wasn't doing anyone harm but it did get my attention because it seemed a bit too casual. Yes, it's a vacation and everyone does things differently but I wouldn't walk into Starbucks in my bathrobe on land and asked myself what makes this ok to do so at sea?  I'm still not sure how I feel about this so wanted to see if anyone had opinions about it?

Yes, it is his vacation BUT there is also a certain amount of decorum that needs to be maintained when you are sailing with 2000+ other people! Your not the only one that has seen this CM, I have also witnessed this on past sailings in the buffet area. My thing is if you want something to eat that bad, order cabin service!! You don't have to wear a suit to the buffet or around the ship but DAMN, at least put some normal clothes on!!!

Talk about making yourself at home.Wink I have been seen walking back from the spa on the Island Princess wearing my white princess robe. I have been seen at the bar by the pool in my white princess robe.....but..... Never at the buffet....... I don't want to ruin someones lunch.....

Big Smile

I've never witnessed that, but it would raise my eyebrows if I did. Someone posted here, or somewhere else, that they were eating in the buffet and a guy, who obviously had been putting in overtime with the knife and fork, walked through wearing a man's leopard thong. Oh, but he was on vacation so it was okay.  LOL

OH NO it wasn't...at least would not have been for me!!! LMAO :D

While it is always prudent to be polite and gentle in forum. I might be inclined to say something like "What were you thinking?". A few years ago I was in a store where one of the employees had shaved 1/2 his head and dyed the other half bright pink....I spoke with this guy and asked when I first saw him." What happened? Did you lose a bet?"

I was asked to  apologize for offending him and his choice of hair styles. In the case of the speedo guy----I would be hard pressed to remain silent.

I have witnesses bathrobes used as vacation casual wear around the ship.   Lots of people were in robes when we sailed through the Straights of Gibraltar at 5 AM,  but they went back to sleep after that.   Now I have been scene wearing a bathrobe on a ship when going to the hot tub late at night when it is cold out but not for lounge wear.   I think the worst I get is track pants, track jacket with a white T-shirt on sea days (but only during day light, I put on real clothes for dinner and evening entertainment).

I wounder if the robe thing took off after the "poop cruise" where the media showed all the people getting off the ship wearing robes ???

The real question about the wearing of robes as casual wear is the same as a guy wearing a kilt......."What do they wear under it" ???

I have a couple of RCI robes that were given to me on RCI Cruises as part of the loyalty rewards program (nicer then the robes they have for in cabin use).  I do not wear them at home since back door to Hot Tub is only 15 feet away.

For Spedo guy I would not have been able to hold my tongue....... the set up would be more then I could resist!!!!    " Look it's Tarzan but the loin cloth shrunk "  Or "Look Jungle man must really be cold,  shrinkage" (for all the Sienfeld fans).

I do not think Spedo's are proper for public pool use,  get some swim trunks and cover that thing up !!!  We do not all need to know that much about you.  Little girls at the pool do not need an anatomy less on the high sea's.

Hey, Justme..... I wear mine to my hot tub in the winter... Mind you temperature here can hit 40 below celsius.. You are where????

Too funny JusMe!!! I agree and in all due fairness, some of the parents of these little girls need to teach them some respect too on what to wear poolside!! When I say little girls, I mean those 18 or less that wear swimsuits no bigger than what I use to floss my teeth.  (Man, am I getting old and crotchety ??? ).

OK John...gonna take the WHOLE day to get that picture out of my head!!! LMAO :D
