Valley of Decision for Jan Cruise

We cruise on the 15th and the CDC announcement has me -of course- asking questions.

The threshold for CDC investigation is 0.1% positivity on a ship, which is nothing in my opinion. I'd be more interested in understanding the ceiling! In other words, when does a ship go from yellow to red? And are we close to that on any particular ship? Unfortunately, they're not going to tell us that or share the actual number of positive cases on any given ship.

So, I guess my question is for anyone who has returned in the last week or so..... Exactly how high is the positivity on the ships? Is it affecting the onboard experience? Is everyone coming home with it?

Can someone be real with me? I DO NOT want to cancel, but I also don't want to have a terrible vacation.

Between the ones the lines cancel, and the ones "we" cancel, and the ever changing rules and obstacles (worse for Canadians obviously)...tell me old cruising really worth this? Yeh, I know...YOU GOTTA DO WHATS BEST FOR YOU..I should have clarified when i wrote that...that's whats best for "YOU"...not the cruiselines....

We were definitely bummed on this one. This was the similar venue we have tried a number of times on Gem and in each case things happen and plans change. Meh .. sometimes .... happens.

Calling to cancel today and we are planning to book a 10 day NE for Sept..

Sorry, you'll get there eventually!

FWIW, it'll pass...we felt a huge relief when we finally actually cancelled instead of kicking it around...wasn't the $$, as in not getting our money's worth, altho I'd be lying if that discussion didn't happen...nor was it the hoops they make you jump through just to cruise, although THAT was an issue finally came down to those cases onboard...basically "forced" to be reported...passengers, and ESPECIALLY crew...with no reasonable explanation of how this happens forthcoming from ANYBODY....lets hope the thing peaks sometime reasonably soon...

And then sometimes the decision is removed from your control. This looks like another possible ship that will be shut down.

Hope everyone continues to improve and get home.
