Trying NCL for the first time!

My sister in law called yesterday to advise NCL was having a $1 deposit sale Surprised and she was looking at cruises for next year. We already have one booked for Feb 2019, but...it's a sale! I did some research last night and this afternoon. While my husband was eating dinner I jokingly asked if I could book a cruise for next March. He was trying to look at wrestling and said yes. I casually got up, went into my office and booked the cruise before he had finished eating Big Smile. We're going on the NCL Dawn, next March, leaving from San Juan. This will be our first time on NCL. I have no complaints about Carnival and will continue to cruise with them, but I'm looking forward to experiencing a new line.

Congratulations!  I saw that sale on the crawl across the top of this site a few days ago.  I was so tempted.  It is fun to check other lines and see what those loyal to that line find so appealing.  If you can find a good bargain, go for it!

The Dawn is kind of an older ship and doesn’t offer as much as the newer ships, ie, the Gem, Breakaway, Escape, etc.

Just saw a favorable review, so, enjoy the cruise.

Best advice we have taken was to branch out and try other cruise lines.  We will still sail Carnival, but we loved RCI and are looking forward to NCL in the fall.  For us, it made everything seem new again.  Between Carnival and RCI, gotta say we favor RCI, but that may be due the newness of the experience.

We have to look for the deals in order to cruise,  and I have found that none of the three lines are consistently cheapest.

As cucruzin said, the best time to book is immediately after getting a distracted "Yes" from your spouse Big Smile

I just got back from a cruise on the NCL Star...........https://youtu.be/QNPljB3BsuM

We are taking advantage of the NCL sale. We will be sailing in 2019, with many perks, thanks to a very good TA.

This will be my second NCL and my wifes' third, Our other cruises have been on Princess. We are on the Breakaway so it is a bigger ship than the Dawn, NCL surely hooked quite a few folks with this promo.

The Dawn had a recent refurbish in 2016. NCL does that with all of their ships from time to time. It is a great ship with a nice layout. 3 elevator banks so not too much walking and in my opinion is a perfect size. I am pretty sure that you will enjoy sailing on her.

Thanks for the feedback. One of the things I learned here (and heard at Funville) is that you shouldn't get stuck on one line. If it works out, try something different then you can compare.

So while your hubby was watching RAW, you scored a pinfall by getting a cruise! NICE!!!!

We are trying RCCL in the fall, looking forward to being on a cruise no matter what line!

‘Didn’t know about the refurb.    Last I heard she was one of the ships possibly going up for sale, Spirit being the other.
