Check out the ships under the explore tab...I have been to the ports of call but never on any Carnival ships.....We have a lot of Carnival cruisers in the family here and I'm sure that they will have plenty of information for you as soon and they see your plea.

Before I can answer I'd want to know the age groups  and home location.

If $ is an issue not only do you need the cruise cost but also the cost of air lines, hotels and transportation.

If flying into a port,  you may want a couple days to see the port since already there.  In Port Canaveral Kennedy Space center is worth a day to see it.  If No Lo,  I'd want to see Bourbon street and must have a good dinner out.

If younger kids going with you then you may want one of the larger ships with more activities for the kids to do.

Adults are 40-41 and kids are mostly 15-16. We love a good time 😊🙌🏼 And we would drive to both locations.

If you are driving then I would also factor in price of parking. Parking can get up there. I've been to a few of the ports, but never on Carnival. San Juan its been YEARS since I've been there and we did a horseback trip through the rainforest. Cozumel we just putzed around and shopped (which was fine by me!). Belize we had an excursion that I did not care much for. It was a "nature reserve" but had a pool to lay by, rental canoes to pay for an a bar for drinks.

My personal preference is nothing shorter than 7 days, but I also take into consideration all the other things in price (flight, drink package, hotel, cabs/transportation etc etc). If I have better deals on flights and hotels, I don't mind paying a little more on a different cruise or week.

Personally, I would do the Port Canaveral 8 night. At $112.50 pp/pn as opposed to the New Orleans 7 night at $111.00 pp/pn, I think it comes down to personal preferences.

having been to both sets of ports, I find that they are all good, but the Eastern itinerary wins in my mind. Also, I do not know anything about the Dream, but the Magic is a great ship.

I do not think I would consider the 5 day cruises, but that is only  my opinion.
