TO "REVIEW" OR NOT ...

Were going on BREAKAWAY soon..twice as a matter of fact...and we're going to do certain things very differently than we usually do.  or at least try to.  Ive looked at the review sections, and when you have thousands of reviews about a given ship, good stuff gets lost in the shuffle.  Not to mention people complaining about things that NO ONE has any control over...notably, the weather, or the locals when you go ashore. I'd like to type an epic review, but now I wonder if its worth it.

I think it is always worth it because if someone is really interested in the cruise and wants to know what to expect they will discard the whiny reviews and actually read those with substance. I also skip the ones that only give a rating and no explanation.  That is not helpful. Those of us who "talk" to on this forum will be interested because we understand that you sail more than others and will value your opinion.... and we want to know how it went with the new approach.  Please write one.

Believe me AUNTIE, I wanted to...until I took some time and read A FEW DOZEN of them on BREAKAWAY...and to beat myself up even further, I looked at a couple dozen MORE on GETAWAY...same stuff..I like your use of the word "whiny"...some folks complained about stuff on board that they could have "fixed", but apparently didn't try, or didn't know how...granted, nobody wants ANY problems or concerns on a luxury item like a cruise...but the reality is "stuff happens"....

As an aside, I think the best one I have ever read was by KENNICOTT on a ship I doubt I'll ever be on..and I enjoyed the whole thing...it needed a table of contents!! .that man can flat write!!!

I think you should go ahead and do the review. If even 1 person reads it and gets benefit then you have helped someone. Is that not worth the effort to write it.

Ouch ow ow...leggo my arm!!!  course you're right....hopefully it'll be a positive thing to write....and if there are problems on our voyage, I'd certainly address them.

Ok consider your arm let go. I do agree Kennicott can write! I wish I was that eloquent.i read reviews all the time. Yes some folks are whiners and I see them in the ship. I dismiss most of them. Just write an honest review and folks will appreciate it.

That is what we would expect you to do!Happy

Do it for yourself, if nothing else. That way, years down the road, you can look back on it and remember what a great time you had. Most reviews are quite positive. Some negative reviews are legitimate. There are always some people who are bound and determined to have a bad time no matter how much fun they are having.

It is easy to distinguish between a review (whether good or bad) and a rant (also good or bad).

I think we all look forward to your review.

Thanks troops.. I do appreciate it..and..I did some homework a lil while ago, and went and read some reviews about a bunch of ships we've previously sailed on..spread out over several years on 4 lines....I'd say at least half of them couldn't possibly have been on the same ship...I believe more than ever that when folks have an issue, if addressed properly, it can be resolved, no damage done.. they just don't know how, without the usual arm waving and holier than thou attitudes...you want someone to do something for you, the first thing you do is...be po'd at them......that's assuming you got the right person to begin with..

And for this I blame...two things...folks have lost the art of face to face communication...send an email to a guy sitting in an office next door....cya I guess...and second, and this is a winner kids...people suddenly become "entitled" because they're on a cruise...yes, most saved for it, and don't cruise as often as I do...but a word to the wise (lurkers)...leave the 'tude home....it rarely works...just because nobody wants to hear you ashore, doesn't mean you can become "all that" on board...the folks with the truly big bux are usually so humble youd have no idea...usually heheheh...

I especially like folks who have never cruised b4, but feel they can write epic rants about what they didn't like, now that they're experts...and you can usually figure it out somewhere  in the body of the review..like sometimes you can spot it in here...nuff said...

I like reading reviews. They host a wealth of information- good or bad.
