Thoughts about MSC Cruises, the Seaside Ship in General?

We are considering other cruise lines and I wanted to hear you thoughts about the MSC Seasisde or MSC cruises in general?

Thanks in advance!

OK, phooey, I forgot to say that I had looked in the reviews section, but it has not been reviewed yet on here, I have not checked anywhere else.

I'm interested in this as well. I have seen some good deals on their website. Cruise Critic has a forum. Seems to be a different experience, but different isn't always bad :)

All I've heard, is that it is a European flavor and may not be what is expected.

Personally, that makes me want to try it more!

Hopefully someone on here will confess to having sailed with them.

From what I undstand, there is a dress code for even walking around the decks in the evenings, with no jeans allowed in public areas after 6pm I think it is. The organization I work for has had at least 2 cruises for our members to go on, with specific cooking classes, exercise classes and meals geared towards the company's focus on healthy eating. Reviews I've read have been nothing but positive about MSC for service, excursions, food etc.

What is meant by European flavour?

When you book, send in paperwork with your loyalty level from other cruise line and MSC will match it for you.....instant perks on a new line.

Not really sure - that is the way it was explained to me.

I am assuming that they meant general mannerisms and customs unique to each part of the world.

Thanks for everyone who has replied so far!

Not sure if that is something I want to do, with the jeans restrictions, yea I am pulling the I AM PAYING FOR THE VAXATION card LOL!

Still going to look into it more!

I don't think it would bother me in the least. I hate wearing blue jeans -- would rather go with a nice pair of slacks and button down shirt anyway.

This is MY experience with MSC. I've done Divina twice and doing Seaside 2019. I LOVE MSC! Like it was posted before, it has a different atmosphere/customs/flavor... European if you may. I Loved it that it was "different".. like Costa Cruises. Once again, this is my opinion. Beautiful ship, delicious food. It is not a party cruise, more a lay back and relaxed which I liked. The club was cool and good music. The ONLY bad thing that they just recently decided to do is that before you either buy the all inclusive drinks or get vouchers. I bought the latter one because I don't drink. I bought vouchers for water, non alcoholic drinks, etc. And I still have lots of them at home which I was planning to use at Seaside. Well, not anymore because they discontinue the vouchers program. I called to verify and I was told they are not going to honor my vouchers. For Me, that's the only negative thing I can say about MSC. Other than that, two thumbs up!!! And I saw ppl wearing jeans and what ever they felt like wearing in public areas at anytime. I did the same too with no problems. Of course, like other cruises, no bathing suit on dining area, barefoot.. etc.. You know what I mean. But jeans? Anywhere, anytime.... I really hope this helped!

My wife and I are considering MSC as well. Have done 4 straight NCL cruises and it seems their prices seem to keep going up. On our first Norwegian cruise a few years back, we paid $49.95 for the beverage package. That is now $89.95. Since we prefer European cruises, we are trying MSC next.

Thanks, LWLillie for your first-hand opinion -- sure beats the "I heard" reviewsBig Smile

I have been seriously looking at MSC cruises, and am (im)patiently waiting for the summer 2019 schedule to post.

Then I will decide whether to go with Princess or MSC for my cruise that year.
