Third party shore excursions VRS booking through the cruise line SMACK DOWN

So do ya'll book your excursions through the cruise line directly, through a third party, or just hop of the ship and see what will happen? I'm a big fan of , mostly because they have a pretty good insurance policy to get people back to the ship on time and are typically less than the cruise line.Plus sometimes if you buy three from them they'll give you 20% off of the total. I hear a lot of people swear by booking them through the cruise directly.... Would just like to hear what you normally book and why.

We have booked with the cruise lines and just jumped off the ship and let the chips fall where they may. Next time we may try that third party booking for excursions.
I recommend new cruisers to always book through the line. It's just safer. Then I tell them to go to YouTube and search for " missing the cruise ship".
