The Chinese Market

On our last cruise, the skipper proudly announced that the new Majestic Princess (Princess Cruises’ 3rd Royal class ship) will homeport in Shanghai, China year-round for a series of Asia cruises to Japan and Korea. She is the first Princess ship designed specifically for Chinese guests and the Chinese market. Like her sister ships (Royal and Regal Princess), Majestic Princess will have a large multi-story atrium, live music venues, plenty of specialty dining and SeaWalk, the “exclusive glass-floored extending out beyond the edge of the ship.”

Wow – wouldn’t that be a unique experience for a non-Chinese speaker…

And - I wonder if China-specific innovations (no tip policy? ) might bleed over to the industry at large?

Other cruise lines have branched out to home port in Asia.   It is after all the new emerging market for cruisers.
