Thank God for Go Pros, Dash Cams, and Stupid People

ok, life isn't ALL about cruising.  Let's face it, there are some dumb people out there, and they are doing, well, dumb things. So, with that in mind, when you have a chance, head over to You Tube and type in any of the following search words :

11 foot 8 bridge

towing fails

( vehicle ) crashes.   ie; scooter crashes

simply the word.  " fail "

microwave glow stick ( yes really )

oh, and feel free to click on anything else that looks interesting

You mean You Tube has videos of things other then Cruise ships ????

LOL... i love the title of this because you can't fix stupid and yes, there are a lot of stupid out there.

You Tube is an endless source of these types of clips although I feel twinges of guilt in laughing at another's misfortune and hate to think that someone got really hurt in the process. In all seriousness, I don't have my iPhone out so that at any second I can capture someone else's misery and post it for all the world to see. That said.. If something spontaneous were caught on camera I'm sure I would laugh about it but i am not so sure that I would put it up online.

To sum up about stupid... (hopefully this picture is allowed)

Love it....

Here is my two cents....

Mondays are bad enough, we can all agree on that.

Tuesdays are ok as we are getting up to speed.

But what can you expect from the rest of the week --when the initials are W.T.F ?

On the serious side of go pro cams,   In L.A. a motorcycle at a stop light yelled to the car next to it to stop texting,  on the next block the car deliberately ran into the bike and then took off.   Good thing the bike rider had a helmet cam to get the licence plate number.  (Los Angeles is knows for our polite and safe drivers)

Oh, I forgot one that really says how low we have sunk as a society. That being said, I can't stop watching. The magic search word is :

Pimples

As far as bringing this topic into the cruising realm, on our last trip the ship's camera department was selling selfie sticks. They do make for better pictures when you don't want to hand your camera or phone to a complete stranger for him/her to take a pic of you and your travel companion.  I get that.  What I don't get is why people (stupid people especially) feel it is appropriate to stop in the middle of a high traffic area in order to take their selfies.  We refer to this self-centeredness as "situational awareness"... and stupid people don't possess a lick of it.

On the flip side, during the Costa Concordia debacle, a number of survivors recorded the chaos onboard. Those recordings provided an objective view of what was going on during the disaster. That is proof as opposed to emotional testimony (also valuable but not objective).
