Subdued Luxury OR Over-the-top Glitz and Glam

I regard any cruise to be a "luxury" but given the choice between simple and over-the-top glitz and glam, I choose simple.  When I see some of the extravagant decor with crystal chandeliers and really plush seating etc OUTDOORS, I shake my head and think it's a waste,,,

Do your "surroundings" impact your cruise line choice?

One of the things I see that looks impressive but I wouldn't do it if I had the cash, those ship suites that are larger than my town house. Some are two stories. I'm on the ship to enjoy as much of the ship as I can. Those super-duper luxury suites are too much.

And along the lines of your post, no I don't need a ritzy interior. I'm an ordinary average guy, below average actually, and I'm happy with things simple.

I'm with you, simple works for me.

I like the glitz. It's fun and different for me when I board a ship. I'm a regular guy too but I don't want a boring bland ship.

I don't need glam or glitz but I like the seeing various different forms decor we've seen on the ships we've been on. Carnival is fun with their different eclectic style of decorating some ships. In my opinion, the more glitz and glam, the higher the price of the cruise, so, I'll stick to the comfortable, fun Cruiseline with enough glitz and glam to make me a happy cruiser.

My answer is...yes! I like it all. the simple, the elegant, the over the top, and the bizarre. A cruise is a chance to be outside your everyday life, so why not make it whatever you need.Big Smile
