Sports Drinks On Carnival?

Can anyone tell me if you can buy sports drinks such as powerade on Carnival Ships (specifically Sunshine) or can you only purchase from the online shop? My husband has a condition that requires him to have at least one a day, two if in extreme hot weather in order to keep his electrolytes up but its SO exp in the shop. Its $14/6pk, I get 28 at Costco for 18.99! I would need to purchase 3pks to ensure he had enough but if we could buy it on board then we could just buy it as we needed it.

TIA!

Do the Costco drinks fit this criteria?

"A small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, juice, and milk) packaged in cans or cartons may be brought onboard on embarkation day and must be in the guest's carry-on luggage. A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12 ounces each or less per person." You could buy them in a Costco in your departure city the day before cruising if you have time, or maybe from a local Walmart for a cheaper price than the ship charges.

I'm pretty sure that buying the drinks onboard are the same price as if you purchased them ahead of time from the Fun Shops. Too bad the Bottomless Bubbles program doesn't include the power drinks.

Unfortunately no, they are in plastic bottles & are 500mls each, 12 oz is 354mls. 60.00 US is SO expensive for 16 bottles but I guess if we have to do it then we have to.

Maybe you will have time to find a local grocery store before heading to the cruise port, but if you have to pay a cab to get there it won't be cost effective I guess. Sad

What about Pedialyte or a powdered electrolyte drink ?

see Amazon

Gatorade is sold in powered form but the cans are 560g, way more than the allowed so unless I can find a way to break it up into cartons I don't think they will let me bring it on. There has to be away to make this work, a can is 5.00 at my local Walmart, huge savings from $60!

Okay, here is a quick tip.  You'll need plastic straws, a candle, pliers, and a funnel.

Light the candle.  Seal one end of each straw by heating it, and clamping closed with the pliers.  Pour enough powder into the straw so you have one ( or 1/2 ) serving.  Repeat the sealing process.

Now, when you purchase the water bottles, snip off the end of the straw (s) and pour into the bottle.

Make more than you need, and place them in a ZipLock bag.

McDonalds has wide straws. Get some there.

Amazon sells a product called Sqwincher.  It comes in individual packets.

also a product called ElectroLyte mix.... powder

Thanks everyone!! I also discovered it comes in cans but can't find anywhere close to Port Canaveral that sells it. I will fig this out. I have checked amazon as well.

lol this is actually an awesome idea & so worth the effort. I keep large milkshake straws here most days that are bigger than the McD's ones, this just might work!

Just don't get searched by the police -- they won't believe it's just Gatorade in the straws!Big Smile

(Don't worry - it probably won't happen.)
