Did you buy the excursion through Royal Caribbean or was it a privately booked excursion? Also, did you have cruise insurance? I find it strange that you say you had Norovirus since the symptoms last at least 3 days yet your were only quarantined for 24 hours. Sounds more like a stomach bug.

Never having cruised with Royal Caribbean, I am just curious as to how keen they are cleanliness to prevent any bugs. On NCL, they are extremely keen with basically preventing anybody entering the buffet without sanitising your hands, by having a "washy washy" man at the entrance. NCL make it a fun thing and it works. (or seems to do)
Ewoodspark....Royal has automatic sanitizing dispensers at the entrance to every food venue along with a crew member making sure you use it.
24 hour after you feel fine is common practice for a cruise line when it comes to Norovirus. The ship has to look out for all the guest, not just the ill ones. Norovirus has hit every cruise line at some point,
Beyond the "Washy washy, clean clean" before entering any dining room, I also pack some Clorox wipes with me and wipe down my cabin door knobs, light switches, TV remote and areas of the cabin I will be touching. A few minutes of wiping can save you from days of sick and locked in your cabin. (on the bright side, you were not in an inside cabin for your lock down)
Every RCI ship I have been on has been clean and well maintained except for when RCI had sold the Song Of America and leased her back for a while, she was clean but some maintenance was let slide a bit with chipped paint in areas.
Best wishes your next cruise is happy and healthy.
So sorry to read that you were sick on the cruise. At least it only lasted for 24 hours. Most passengers are confined for 3 days. Good to read that you recovered quickly. At least you only missed one port.
