Something New I Learned About Elevators on last cruise ...

Okay cal me dumb but I never noticed that the GANGWAY button on the elevator takes you to whatever floor you are disembarking from on a port day (It is not lit or working on a sea day).  All these cruises and trying to remember which floor to get off on to disembark and there it was all this time ...duh????

Ever hear the tip about hold the close button and push the floor you want and it will take your directly there without stops ... only works when the proper key has been inserted by a staff member in the event they need to quickly get to a deck for an emergency....reason it works on occasion is because staff member forgot to turn off.

Its the the key that places the elevator in manual mode.  Not pressing any combination, not holding any buttons. No magical sequence.   It's amazing what people think they can make an elevator do.

If you do a rain dance long enough, it will rain.

Trust me, without the key, an elevator will stop at the floors that it's told to stop on. And you tell it by pressing a button.

Columbia University professors think they can control elevators too. They can't. But they will tell you they can. Despite the elevator repairmens argument to the contrary.
