How many of you are going to still practice social distancing on the ships when they start back up? Eating at a table with strangers at main dining room? Partying on decks with crowds? We got 3 cruises scheduled and if things dont change as for dining, etc. we may not cruise again(been on 24 so far). Been a great run and hopefully we can continue, but the general public is "nasty" and hopefully the cruise lines can improve this too much togetherness. This virus will not go away unless a vaccine is made.
The only way a cruiseline could fulfill those changes would be to take less people and charge way more per cruise- a price a lot of us could not afford. A vaccine will have to found and my guess is proof of vaccination will be needed prior to any sailing. Now the question is, when will that happen?
So-called "social distancing" and cruising are contradictions in terms. Not possible under any circumstances. I don't care what size ship you're on. Just not possible. The one thing you accept is crowds and a lot of people in a relatively small space. I agree with COASTERKING completely. And as far as a "vaccine", I'm not holding my breath. Even if they eventually develop one, the number of people who actually get it is debatable.
I think it will be impossible to practice social distancing on a cruise. I think only proper hygiene and consideration will be able to take place. I do think the virus will go away. Unfortunately that will be after a lot of cruises are cancelled.
Try to picture social distancing during embarkation ... debarkation ... buffet line up ... at the airport en-route to cruise ... on the airplane ... I think the social distancing ON the ship is the least of the concerns considering all of the others before even getting to that point.
It would be hard to practice social distancing, but if everyone did their part and practiced good hygiene, then you wouldn't have anything to worry about.
