Ships’ Casino’s : where did the $5 tables go ?

It seems to me that the $5 tables are going the way of the midnight buffet.  On our last cruise, the Norwegian Escape, I didn’t see any $5 tables.  Everything was $10, $15, or higher.  Roulette chips were $5 each, with a three bet minimum.   Now, the casino’s are 3rd party operators, and I know they turn a huge profit ( better than some land based casino’s I would think ), so why raise the minimums ?  They are alienating the casual player.  Many, like me, will still go into the casino, but will eventually avoid them.  I often see $50 tables standing empty, generating no income.  $5 players would fill these up in 2 minutes.     The only games that were under $5 were the penny slots, however max coin in would cost $3 / spin.     We have a cruise coming up in about 140 days, and saving for the casino, which is my form of entertainment, is not the priority it once was.  Oh I’ll pop in for awhile, but I doubt I’ll stay long.

Totally agree.. I enjoy $5.00 Black Jack.  But after ten pm I think CCL raises them to $10.

I like penny slots.Wink

Yeah. You play for hours and only lose a few cents.

I finally got a casino offer for a cruise... $500 off.  The catch is it is off the standard price, which saved me a total of $50.  But when you play penny slots that isn't a bad return on my investment.Big Smile

I have found , the only machine that gives a good, steady return on investment........is the dollar bill changer.

My hubby played craps for $5 on CCL last week.

I’m hoping it was a trend only on larger ships.   I’ll be back on the Gem in October, and I think they still had some $5 tables, but very limited.

It's there a .25 cents or a quarter fee to exchange a dollar?

Vegas has gone the same way ... $5 table ... where the heck did the $2 tables ever go!
