Self Planned Excursion at Grand Cayman

Need some help, folks. In June my family will take a 7 day cruise from Galveston to the western Caribbean. We are choosing to go with Carnival for excursions out of Jamacia and Cozemel, as we are traveling farther from port. But I am thinking Cayman is a great place to try and set up our own excursion and save a few bucks.

With me will be my wife, two teens, adult daughter, son-in-law, and their 3 yr old. We're thinking about just taking a beach day. Debating Royal Palms, or some of the other sites. Would like a place toddler friendly. Thought about the turtle farm, but not sure the cost of going ourselves is much less than Carnival's cost. I welcome any suggestions. Thanks.

You might want to consider the independent, third-party excursion options offered by companies like ShoreFox and Shore Excursions Group that we offer on Cruiseline.com. They're generally less expensive than the cruise line excursions and tend to offer smaller groups.

Yes, I w3ould suggest talking to the independent tour guides on shore or just take a taxi to the beach.

That's a great suggestion. We booked an excursion through the ShoreFox here and we had a fantastic time - that was last spring on St. Marten. We highly recommend them.

Remember, how you get to the beach, is not as important as how you will get back to the ship.

Good point BAK. Our tour bus driver in ST Martin pointed out that traffic was going to be so heavy in the early afternoon, and speeds are not like at home, nor are the roads, so if we didn’t leave the beach by a specific time, we would be guaranteed to miss the ship.

Remember, the ship will sail whether you are in it or not.
