Self disembark

We aware going on carnival cruise out of long beach.  The itinerary says we dock back at long beach at 7am.  If we do self disembark, what time do you think we will be out of the ship?  Thank you ahead of time.

Well that all depends on customs. To be safe I would plan b/t 8&9.  When we were on the Miracle last year there was an issue with customs and walk offs didn’t start until 10. However, I do believe that was a one time deal. Just remember walk off you must take all you luggage and the crew is not allowed to help you. Hope this helps. Enjoy your cruise!

Also, keep in mind things besides customs can delay the debarkation process.  Weather at the port or along the way, medical emergencies at the port or along the way, a large amount of ships arriving near the same time (you have to take your turn), etc.  On our last cruise we docked at 6:00AM because we missed our last port and had an extra sea day to return back in FLL.  Just be patient.

seriously, it depends what time you get on line.   The line to disembark will start to form very early.   People will go down to the atrium with their luggage as early as 5 am.   Some will hold a place with their luggage and go get something to eat.  Truth is, the first to get off should be the ones with an early flight home.

We always self disembark and the earliest we have cleared everything and been in our car was 10 am and the latest was 11:15. These were for 7 am port arrivals. The difference is usually how many customs agents are working and how fussy they are on that particular day.

we have gotten off in Fort Lauderdale at 8:00 am and been in the gate area at 8:40 for our flight home.  Have done twice now and have gotten off both time by 8:30

Now that is impressive!

everything just lined up-now depending on flights for travel home we do self-embark to avoid later day flights and sitting around the airport for hours
