Royal Pain/Royal Princess

Worst cruise ever!  Website for Princess Cruise Lines said "part obstruction".  This was a total obstruction.  Crew members worked on this lifeboat off and on so we had no privacy and had to keep our drapes closed.  No TV remote in cabin, safe was iffy, keycards stopped working and had to be reissued, anniversary cake was to be delivered to cabin and wasn't until I complained a day later, cruise staff was condescending and cabin steward was clueless.  I wrote a letter and Princess contacted me.  Brittany in Customer Service (NOT), said I got what I booked and asked if there was daylight in my cabin.  Is that the criteria to be satisfied with a balcony cabin?  They had offered dinner at Sabitini's only for the inconvenience of the keycards.  Only reservations available were the last night and at awkward times.  We didn't go.  No compensation for all that went wrong on almost a daily basis.  Princess is only interested in your money, not your cruise experience.

We took the new Royal Princess on a transatlantic cruise last summer. We'd used Princess before, and had always enjoyed our voyages. This one was the worst by far. Staff, at best, was disinterested, and at worst, downright rude. Whole trip had a cattle drive atmosphere. Persons with disabilities were tolerated, but not made to feel welcome. Couple of large groups of fellow passengers were unbelievably loud, pushy to the point of being aggressive, and generally obnoxious. Staff more interested in placating them (hey, large groups/big bucks) these bozos than concerns of individual passengers. Entertainment venues very limited. Won't use this ship again!

Very sorry to hear these cruise stories.  We have a number of Princess cruises booked in the coming year.

These stories make me sad, I have 25 cruises with princess and have always been happy with them. With that said I have not sailed on the Royal or th Regal.

Every line can have a bad ship in it's fleet.  That is why I check reviews on a few sites before booking a cruise.   If the ship gets bad reviews and  I book it for the itinerary and price my my expectations are set low and I end up happy because it was better then expected.  I had heard so much bad about Carnival for years that I never tried them until I got a deal to good to pass up.   I went expecting very little and was pleased with the food and service and entertainment.  Now I have not problem going on them for short trips if it is a Fantasy Class ship,   I did not like the Conquest Class ship :-(

I hope your next cruise is better and thank you for a honest review.  Review sites need the bad along with the good. I know it is easier and more fun to give a good review,  but bad reviews are appreciated from the rest of us so we know what to expect.

Back in 2010, we sailed on the Grand Princess and had a great time. This past April, we did a T/A on the Caribbean Princess and I beat myself up for not sticking with Princess for the last 5 years! The ship was clean, always being maintained, food was good to great (yet the Horizon Court left little to be desired) and the staff seemed to always go above and beyond, happy and smiling. With my past experiences sailing NCL, Carnival, Celebrity, RCCL and Princess, I was reminded how cruising should be. Think I'll be staying with Princess for the next few cruises!!

I have only been on one Princess cruise (Crown Princess) and it was great.  However, the embarkation process was so slow I suppose because we were first times on their cruise line that by the time I boarded I was so frustrated.  We arrived early to the terminal.  The staff kept bringing other passengers  over to the front of our long line even though they had their own (very short) line that we never could move ahead.  It was more the unfairness than the 45+ minutes on the crowd control line that bothered me.  Others who entered our line later than us, waited even more.  Although the cruise itself was wonderful, I have not booked another cruise on Princess since because of this experience.

Thanks for sharing your unfortunate experiences with us.  I am so sorry that you had to deal with all these mishaps on a vacation.  The view from your balcony was not obstructed, it was blocked.  I understand your frustration.  I seem to have a hard time with those key cards.  They get demagnitized by my camera.  On some cruises I need to replace them several times.  I surely hope that your next cruise goes much smoother.
