Reservations on Norwegian for Entertainment

Hi All..

I've been on a handful of cruises and it's always been with Carnival.  A friend of mine went on Norwegian and was told it was AMAZING!

We are planning on going on another cruise in Jan 2017 and am in the process of checking out the other lines to see the options.  I really like the "perks" for the unlimited beverages, wifi, excursions, dining that Norwegian is offering but when I was looking at some of the reviews.. they said something about if you want to go to any of the shows, you have to make reservations in order to attend.  Is that true??

My husband and I are a fly by the seat of our pants and decide on doing things on the ship when we decide at that moment.  We are on vacation after all and we don't necessarily want to have a schedule so to speak.

Thoughts on this???

The junbo ships do this NCL and RCI that you have to make reservation for specialty dining or some shows a month or three before your cruise to get times when you would want to eat.   I have not heard of this on the older mid size ships.  Some of the new ships hold 4,000 guest and the theater only seats 1,000.  Before you pick any ship,  read a bunch of the reviews here,  every line seams to have a ship that just does not get good reviews as the others do.
