Queen Victoria,

Hi all,

my husband and myself will be cruising on the queen Victoria in July this year. We love cruising, but this time I'm a little concerned that the people on board might be a little snobby and we might feel a little out of sorts. Please has anyone been on this ship?

I never worry about what others think of me. If they don't care for me, then it is their loss.

Go, be yourselves, and have fun!

Also, you may want to contact an admin about changing your screen name. It is not a good idea to publish your email account on a public forum.

I completely agree with BDRebel. What others are like doesn't affect whether I have a good time or not. Go with an open mind, a positive attitude and you will have a great time.

Please be sure to come back and tell us about it.

I know they don't have steerage anymore - but I've heard that these old English Lines retain a social stratification between "classes" of travel. I think that would bother me.

"Classes of travel"? I don't understand why it would bother you - whether you consider yourself in a lower class than your fellow cruisers or an upper class to them. To me, we are all the same whether a person books an inside room or the owners suite. We are all cruising to have fun and see the ports.

I get that - but I've heard that the Victoria and others of her ilk actually compartmentalize off the different "classes" - shades of the Titanic - and the "riffraff" aren't allowed to trod the footprints of their betters. Don't think I'd like that regardless of the deck I was on, or restaurants I was allowed to eat in.

For that matter, Celebrity's suite perks and NCL's Haven class are the same way -- private dining and lounges. Most of the lines have the private lounges and parties for the "elite" few.

Just don't let it phase you.

Don't worry about, go enjoy your cruise! If folks are snobbish there not worth your time or energy!

I suspect your going to be pleasantly surprised with the crowd on Victoria.

Please don't let this bother you.  You don't need to mingle with snobby people.  They probably wouldn't be mingling with you.  Just have a good time and meet people who you feel comfortable with.  You will find many people like that on board any ship.

Have not been on Victoria but her sister QM2. We had an absolutely fabulous time. They do have different restaurants for that cabin type (ie: Queens Grill, Princess Grill). They have some different menu and dining options in those restaurants. I don't remember any of the lounges or deck areas as being off-limits. We ate in the MDR and never felt like "lower class" passengers. Everyone we met was very friendly. After 6pm (when the dress code kicks in) walking around the ship, going to the lounges and/or shows, we never felt out of place. And I could not tell you who was in "those" cabins unless I saw them coming out of the corresponding dining room. The staff treated us very well. You will have a wonderful time!!! Wish I was coming along.
