Unbelievable Ship

In response to review, missmc123 says ...

We found the technology on the ship amazing. All of the robots and Ipads all over the place. The internet worked lightening fast for us, way faster than my home Wifi. They must have figured out the problem that others were complaining about and made it super!

Sounds like you had a wonderful time... that's great. I am‚ a bit confused by two of your comments. On one hand you marvel at the use of technology on the ship but on the other it seemed to contribute to an issue with selecting excursions,‚ "Not alot of information was given about excursions and there was not a human to talk to about them. Everything was booked on an iPad."

Would you mind commenting on how the technology could improve in the area of excursion/tours? What was the stumbling block for why this did not work as well?

Thank you

Technology was super cool and fast! I enjoyed Wifi faster than home, the app onboard was very useful too. The staff took our orders on Ipads and we ordered drinks from the robot at bionic bar. As for using the ipads for excursions, they functioned brilliantly and we were able to book excursions with ease. The problem was actually with RCCL for not giving great descriptions of the excursions and there wasnt anyone manning the excursion desk to ask questions about specific details. That was the only stumbling block, no human available and we had to simply rely on the scant information available‚ and hope we were happy with the tour we knew very little about. Our concierge tried her best to answer but since it was the first time at all of these ports, she didnt know much about them either.‚

Ah yeah. that makes sense.  It's really a weakness for a lot of the cruise lines. The best descriptions that I've found are actually Princess Cruises. The detail associated with their excursions is broken from beginning to end of excursion and down to the number of steps (stairs) and distance in feet. Very helpful.

Given the choice of a computer/robot or a human, I would rather deal with the human. I think that RCI is going the robot route for the glitz and newness of it. Unfortunately, they lose customer service points along the way.

As a person that makes a living based off of technology, I have to agree with BDRebel.  Robots are cold and uncaring and frankly, when it truly hits the fan, you want someone you can have a loud conversation with.   ;)

You haven't met my boss then......

According to the local Union Steward, I resemble that remark!
