I hate to bring up something negative about cruising. Since I live so close to Port Canaveral, I watch the ships as they depart. I noticed that the Majesty of the Seas did not depart when she should have. I latter discovered that she had failed a routine Coast Guard Inspection on Monday. She was not cleared to sail until the next day after the violations were corrected. It seems that some of the life jackets were in poor condition. There was nothing wrong with the engine, hull or other mechanical components.
The ship was supposed to sail a 4-night Bahamian cruise and instead had a 3-night cruise. The ship is one of RCCLs older ships (1992.) Some passengers claimed that they were not kept informed; others say that they were. At least one couple left the cruise that I know of. The ship returned to Port Canaveral this morning. Passengers received an on board credit of 25% of the cost of their cruise plus a 25% credit on a future RCCL cruise.
