Pre-cruise hotel in Fort Lauderdale

Hi There

Any suggestions for a pre-cruise hotel in Ft Lauderdale?

We stayed at La Quinta airport and it was very nice - complementary shuttle from the airport, breakfast and they arranged transportation to the cruise port. Its right across the road from Oakwood Mall if you've forgotten anything, or if you want to go out for dinner. We have also heard that a Fairfield hotel near the port is very nice.

I stay at the Fairfield Inn on Griffin Road. Free shuttle service from the airport, to the Mall, places to eat.

We have stayed at a number of Fort Lauderdale beach hotels over the years before embarking on cruises at that nearby port. All were good. However, in early October we embark on a cruise from Miami and overnight there in a cruise line included hotel. But, we arrive at the Fort Lauderdale airport in the late afternoon the day before. Since we can't purchase an extra night in the Miami hotel from the cruise line or even get them to provide transportation over to Miami from the Fort Lauderdale, I booked the first night at a Lauderdale airport hotel.

We used to stay at the Seattle Tacoma airport Custom Inn and Suites whenever we passed through Seattle from Alaska, for almost forty years. But since they have been taken over by Choice Hotels (By the Book By the Boom) trying to get decent rates and reservations there has become an ordeal. Last year, during a graduation at Boulder Colorado we stayed in La Quinta there, which was good except for one concern, which I wrote them about and they appeared to care less, so no La Quinta for us anymore either.

After all these years it is time for a change. We have never stayed in a Hampton Inn. However, six months ago in Waikiki we used a Hilton Beach hotel which Hampton is part of. We were pleased. We now have reservations at Seattle's airport Hampton Inn (twice as we will use them again in November) and at Fort Lauderdale, one night. Stay tuned.

We stay at the Embassy Suites, it is near a Walgreens and a CVS and several places to eat dinner and it has a free shuttle to the ships.
