Here is a good breakdown of possible costs for you by Cruise Radio:

For first time cruisers, I know that it is sometimes hard to resist not only taking part in all the photo opportunities but also buying all the photos.  I know I did that on my first cruise.  But i regret doing that now.  I bought a package of our formal pictures and other than myself and my parents, I couldn't think of who I would give the photos to.  Give yourself a budget and then don't go over it--otherwise you will easily spend hundreds of dollars on photos.  Just my thoughts.

The photos run $20 each but cost less if you buy a package.

We are very selective in choosing what pictures to buy due to the cost.

You should budget $100, and you will walk away with a nice collection of prints that you will love. Be careful, though, because it is easily possible to spend $1000 there, buying just a few each time you visit.

Was standing at the photo line to buy one pic of my daughter and her boyfriend.  The lady next to me had just sent her husband to add another $750 to their account to buy pictures (she said they had already spent over $300 at that point).  We decided early on that you have to be very selective in which pictures you get from the ship.  Recommend taking lots of pics with your own phone/camera when possible and save the money for other fun things.

Get some of the good photo's of you dressed up and happy in the MDR.    When I was cleaning out my parents house after they passed on,   it was great going through the box of photo's they had from cruise ships going back over 30 years.   I was seeing them grow old and happy together.   So the photo's are as much for your kids as they are for you.

True oh so true.

It really varies for us. On our 1st cruise we bought a photo a day - embarkation, a pic from each port and one from the “elegant” evening. Now we only purchase the embarkation photo. Friends we cruise with purchase a huge number of pictures each time.

Good advice. We usually buy 2-5 pictures and along with them a memory book to keep them in. We don't give them away but keep a memory book for each cruise for our own benefit.
