Opinions versus Facts about Cruising

It is growing very tiresome reading people's "opinions" about how things work on various cruise lines versus actual FACTS.  Some one states something (that is their opinion) and clings to it as a rule, a fact, a carved in stone truth about cruising when thousands of people have seen living proof that what they are saying is false. Plus policies change and differ between lines - stop quoting old info.

It's confusing to new cruisers as to what they can or can not do or should and should not do.

I've gotten some emails from people who visited this forum upon my recommendation when we met cruising and they are flabbergasted by the false claims and negativity and choose not to join...

Let's keep the information factual unless you're giving an opinion on your specific experience or cruise.

Good points - it's hard to "know" how some things work on a cruise ship - some cruise lines take particular pains to obscure some linkages. Of course a decade or two of cruising allows a contributor to provide useful opinions - and you are right - when doing so, should probably make it clear that it is indeed their opinion.

Much has changed in a decade or two ... for that matter, in a year... I've noticed many differences on the Princess in the past year and may speak to how something was on a specific ship at a specific time but not carved in stone.

Best point: In November, I did 3 Back-to-back Caribbean cruises on the Royal out of FLL. Customs came to the Princess Theatre and we were cleared to go back to our cabins without having to disembark. A week ago on the Regal, numerous passengers were on back-to-backs, met in the Princess Theatre and were all required to disembark and re-board. As stated before, it is truly at the whim on the Customs Agent ...

The fan question I also provided the link to the cruise lines FAQ because they now have the cruise lines position on fans and the individual can print that page and take it with them

I can't speak for any other cruise line other than Carnival's rep's but I know from personal experience that when you call them with a question, you can get as many different answers to the same question to the number of times you call.
