Opinions: day of embarkation Logistics

we are cruising out of NO and are parking at the Fulton garage. I’ve read some folks say to drop off luggage at terminal,  then park and jump on shuttle. I’ve also seen some video of what looks to be some pretty backed up traffic headed to the terminal. (Whether it was drop off traffic or into terminal garage, i have no idea). We wouldn’t want to get stuck in That traffic twice and have a fairly early check in (11:30-12).

Has anyone done the former and if so, would you do it again?

thanks in advance.

I can't say that I have, but another alternative is to book a hotel for the night before that offers free shuttle to and from the port. Best Western also offers free parking for the week in their lot (as does Country Inn And Suites) for their cruise guests. They will also shuttle you back to the hotel when the cruise is done free of charge.

Don't know what happened to my last...it looks like it got eaten. if you haven't cruised out of NO, then the best advice I can give you is don't get the idea you can drive around the port, dropping off luggage, and then parking. traffic is a nightmare on embarkation day, if its moving at all...some of the parking lots have to be at least partially emptied b4 they let "new" customers park. been there done that...never again. I hope you haven't waited too long to get a "park n cruise...probably over on the west bank. Best Western on Lopalco is my suggestion, if its not full.. they sell out fairly quickly. a lot of those motels no longer offer shuttle service to or from the pier...check carefully...don't rely on the internet CALL THEM..its a long taxi ride and I don't think its flat rated...of that im not sure. we book a room downtown at the HI Superdome with parking the same day we book the cruise. and its a 10 min ride to the pier. you should also note the baggage is "dropped off" in carts like airline baggage trains use...outside, near a parking lot...then you get to drive around trying to figure out how to park...you could beat some of the traffic by arriving very early, or very late..the arrival windows assigned to you will become meaningless, as, unfortunately, I believe you will soon see. Were going on the BREAKAWAY soon....its the first time a mega ship has ported out of NO...couple that with the usual CARNIVAL schedule, and it will get even more interesting than usual. good luck

Thanks for the replies, guys!

Thats what we do too
