Once Again, The Cruiseline Price Alerts Save Us BIG Money!!!

Back in April of 2015, we had a 14 day T/A cruise booked with an obstructed oceanview cabin on the Caribbean Princess. About 6 weeks prior to the sail date, the prices went down about 49%. Because of the price alert, we were able to get a balcony cabin for LESS than what we paid for the obstructed oceanview. This not only saved us big money (and got us some extra OBC's), but allowed us to upgrade to what we really wanted which was the balcony cabin. Well, guess what...it happened AGAIN!!! We have a balcony cabin booked on the Oasis of the Seas for the May, 21 - 28th sailing. I received a price alert for this cruise and cabin type showing the price went down 25% !!! We contacted our agent and was able to secure the sale without loss of anything and it saved us about $600 (that's a LOT of extra OBC) ! Folks, if you are not taking advantage of the Price Alerts option provided by Cruiseline.com....you are missing out big time. Thank you Cruiseline.com for this GREAT service !!! Bon Voyage......Love

We use price alerts for voyages we are interested in which helps us track pricing to ensure we get a fair price when we do book.

Before I had this app, I would go to the website and check religiously. The one year we had over $600 OBC because of that. Now that I have this app, I don't check nearly as often but once in awhile I still do. Have a great trip.

I will have to try it! My bf's parents have always booked the next cruise while we are on the cruise with the folks on RCI.

That's fine Meg, they can still do that. But, when they return, have them sign up for the alert using the cabin type they booked (Inside, Balcony etc.). When ever the price changes, they will get an email indicating the change. Depending on the cruise line and as long as final payment has NOT been made, they may be able to get a better deal or a better cabin. So far, the only lines that gave us issues when trying to change AFTER final payment was made was Carnival and RCCL.

I have alerts set up for a number of the cruises, but I do not get any emails? are others having the same problem? I just come to the site and check my running list.

You should be getting an email anytime the price goes up or down more than 1%. There won't be an email if there's no change in price.

So do you only get the price difference if you HAVE NOT paid in full?

That's possible BUT keep in mind, that the sale price (price drop) reflects a different booking promo than the one you originally purchased. Many times the cruise line may issue the promo as for "New Bookings Only" yet may work to give you the new deal. In other words, you may save money or get a free upgrade but you may loose many if not all of the perks (amenities) like OBC's you were offered under your original booking promo. Best is to take it up with your agent before trying to do it yourself.
