On Board Gift Shops & Sales

On every Princess cruise I have been on, the gift shop holds a $10 day or Clearance Day sale in one of the Dining Rooms two or three days into the cruise.  Much of the merchandise is from previous cruises or destinations but still a reasonable price for souvenirs or logo ware. Do you wait till the end or go the first day to buy on board ship items?

My wife will generally hit the T-Shirt sale pretty hard, as well as the jewelry sale.

For me, I will generally get what I want when I want it rather than fighting the crowds at the tables.

We don’t buy much in the gift shops but we’ll take a quick look at those sale tables when they’re up.  Sometimes there’s a deal too good to pass up!

Honestly, we don't buy stuff when cruising unless it is a special occasion. A few years ago, we celebrated a wedding anniversary and vow renewal.  There were Swarovski crystal finches and they really stood out to us. After checking pricing online, we realized that if we purchased onboard we were saving as much as $150. We purchased them with a % discount applied, plus my husband got a few more bucks off by negotiating with the shop manager.  He can't seem to help himself with the haggling thing.  We did not wait for any deeper discount because they do not have a big supply of these crystal pieces onboard.

Usually what I want doesn't get discounted, but I wait anyway.

We wait for the cruise to update the jewellery. But souvenir t-shirts etc we buy for the grand kids and such.

Like it has been mentioned some deals are too good to pass up.

Watches are a good deal.

Same here.

I go to ALL the sales mostly just to look.  Many times I do buy.  I usually get a lot of on board credits and need to use them for something.  I have only been on one Princess cruise.  HAL usually has their sales poolside which is very convenient for me since i spend a lot of time there.  Gloria

We don't tend to buy very much in the shops... I might go look, but only if there is nothing else interesting going on at that time.

I find that too, but then there is always coupons!  But I do check the sales out.. my BF can't handle them.

I'll hang out till the last day and look at that sale.   I may end up with a logo polo short or two.  I really should stay away as I have enough Polo shirts to last a life time.
