On board discounts

Hi.

We were on the Epic last year and only when we were a couple of days into the cruise, did we realise we had been credited dollars to our stateroom. (First cruise and didn't know what to expect......newbies!)

We've now booked again for the Epic in June.

Can anyone advise me if we will automatically receive this again as our travel agent wasn't aware of it. If so we'd like to use it for the spa. Any feedback would be gratefully received!

Thanks

Shelli

It depends on your cruise booking.  Your TA should be able to give you an accounting of what rate you booked under and what is included in that rate.

We have only sailed Carnival, but certain booking specials will give onboard credit.  Most Carnival rates do NOT include a credit.  Also, depending on the rate you book under and the final payment date, you can call Carnival to price match to a lower fare for your exact cabin type.  You can get an

onboard credit or sometimes a cabin upgrade.

We generally receive a nominal onboard credit due to overpaying port fees when we book.  The cruiselines have to estimate these fees.  Not sure about other cruiselines, but Carnival refunds any overpayment to your onboard account.  If you underpay, they don't charge the higher rate. We have received as much as $30pp back, but it's generally only $5-6 dollars/person.

Enjoy your cruise!!

Many cruise lines offer on board credits for customer loyalty (successive bookings) military service, cabin upgrades, stock ownership, and the like. I talked to one passenger who claimed that his (inboard) cabin was comped  because of his penchant for onboard gambling. You just have to ask.

We can see our onboard credit when we look at our booking details online.

Yes, it could be over estimating port fees, otherwise your TA would know about it. The front desk should be able to tell you.
