Old Posts and/ or Threads

there seems to be a proliferation of old threads suddenly being responded to. Some are over a year old, one was three years old.  WTFIGO ?

whats amazing is all of these old threads are being found by new posters.    I can't find a thread from yesterday !

some are so old, they have rules in the post that have changed, making them obsolete.

New posters, welcome to the forums, we love your input, but please, when you do your searches, before you respond, look at the date of the original post.    Feel free to start a new thread.

oh, and for the record, I think we have covered power strips enough for one day.

1) you can bring them

2) they should be new/newish

3) they can't be surge suppressors.

Well...I asked about this specifically when I was new here and was told it was okay.  When I've done it I say that it's an old thread and the reason why I've brought it forward.  I've not done that in a while but I did ask and was told go ahead.

Old threads I don't mind so much seeing again unless they are old reviews over a couple of months old.  That to me doesn't make sense to bring forward since the crew and staff of a ship can change quite a bit in even a month.

I do read old threads quite a bit, especially ones from the Admiral since she has a huge wealth of information.  Haven't brought anything forward in a while and since I don't want you to shoot me, hang me, then piss on my grave afterwards I'll never do it again.

sometimes it's better to start a new thread, rather than read through 4 pages of an old one. Especially if it's over a year old.

Suggestion for the Moderators. If a thread goes a year with no response(or some other time frame of your choice) delete the thread. Just a thought.

Possibly lock, but do not delete. Someone may find the answer they are looking for in an old thread.

Personally, I do not mind the old threads being resurrected. Although the information may (or may not) be outdated, it is interesting to see how things have changed from the past, and it does stir up conversation.

I'm an old thread that just keeps unraveling and unraveling ....

We definitely don't want to delete you!

And locking you up may be illegal.Big Smile

Do you take your Spinning Wheel on the cruise with you?

just don't mess up the ever so famous Where is everyone thread?Angryup

That's an active thread no matter how old it is.

Simon would be nuts to remove that ...true mutiny would result ...
