Yup.  We have bribed the kids with nice honeymoons if they had a simple wedding.  Worked for two--let's hope we're as lucky with the third :)

We just celebrated our 46th anniversary this past Saturday.  We went to the court house in Denver, drew the juvenile court judge (luck of the draw).  I remember a lot of it because it was so simple.  My parents and sibling were the and so was my DH's mother.  My college roommate was one witness and the DH asked my Dad to be the other.  The judge was sure it was a "shotgun" wedding of two young teens until he read our ages on the marriage license. My roommate, mother-in-law, DH and I rode in one car and my parents and four siblings in the other.  In the parking lot the attendant asked my DH which one he was going to marry (because my roommate and I were walking together).  He looked at us and said he "hadn't decided yet". His mom was appalled.  It was a great start to a wonderful love and friendship.  Looking forward to more years together.

Thanks, BAK, for jogging the memory.

Sounds like the one my son had.  I'm glad I had a son because I would have needed to Re mortgage the home.

My son and DIL were married on the patio of a local golf club, by a Justice of the Peace. The reception followed with appies, BBQ burgers and salads. Dress was very casual - son wore golf shorts and button down shirt and DIL in a sundress. We all had the best time and they were more than happy to spend both sets of parents wedding budgets on their house down payment.
