before you say anything, I got sick ON the cruise. For two weeks before we drank this tea daily to avoid getting sick.   We heard about this and tweaked it a bit.  It tastes a lot better than it sounds, and you won't smell of garlic.

 

Garlic Tea

into 4 C of water add the following:

 

zest & juice of 1 lemon 

zest & juice of 1 lime

5 cloves of garlic,  pressed ( crushed if you don't have a press ), include what doesn't press through

1 thumb of ginger, pressed ( grated is ok )

optional:

1 piece of turmeric, pressed ( this will give it a bright yellow colour, and a bit of a kick, but it's good for inflammation)

 

 

bring just to a boil, then turn down and simmer for 10-15 min.

 

into a mug add honey to taste, then pour the tea through a fine strainer into the mug.  Drink it as hot as you can stand it.  You can drink it cold, but it works better hot.

 

 

 

before you say how terrible this sounds, it actually has a tropical taste.  You won't have garlic coming out of your pores as the heat neutralizes that compound.

oh, if you don't have a zester, use a vegetable peeler to remove the zest.  And don't be tempted to throw the lemon and lime into the mix. The piths are bitter.
