Oceanview vs Balcony vs Inside Cabin

Hi Guys,

I have been on a few cruises and only ever had a balcony room. We sit outside a little but not enough to really spend the extra money for the room I think. I wouldnt mind trying a different room as it is a lot less expensive at times. If anyone has tried different rooms please comment on your experience. Thanks in advance!Happy

Thanks for your response, I do agree with stepping out on the balcony periodically it is nice! Just not sure it's totally worth double what a Ocean view room costs.

Thanks for your response we are looking to book an Oceanview I think so we can try it out and save a few bucks so we can book more cruises!

We have had all the rooms even a suite once. That tends to ruin you for other cabins but I digress.

We tend to book inside cabins the most as we can cruise much more when we use inside cabins. Don’t get me wrong we love the balcony staterooms and when we have one we spend a great deal of time in our balcony.

In short it come down to price for us.

We have had ocean view and porthole rooms. The porthole rooms are right at the front of the ship and we did notice a little more noise when we were on the Riviera deck of the Conquest, but we’ve booked the same room again this year. I think I could stay in an inside room if I had the TV bridge view on, ready for when I wake up so I could see the weather and view. Ocean view rooms are our preferred, but it all depends on our budget.

Our first cruise we booked oceanview and the upgrade fairy offered us a balcony for $50 each more. Both times we booked less than a balcony we had the chance to upgrade so keep that in mind. Book early and check the price especially after the final pay date and keep an eye on it. If the price drops call the cruise line or your TA to see about a free upgrade. Got to be careful though as some upgrades negate earlier perks but that can always be open to negotiate.

That's good to know about the upgrades. We haven't been that lucky!

I have to say I agree. Simply put, I love the little bit of extra space the balcony gives us. I am also the light sleeper between my cousin and I (we always room together) and i can sneak on to the balcony at random times without waking her or having to stare off in the dark room.

We have had both Sky Suite with a balcony and Panoramic Ocean View on the Celebrity EDGE. The ocean view had a wall almost entirely of glass and very similar to the new Infinite Balcony cabins except in was smaller and the upper part of the glass doesn't open. Considering price difference, not a bad choice if you don't care about sitting in a breeze.

Always a balcony. Good to have a good view of entering and leaving ports. We do breakfast and a few night caps as well.
