Nowegian Pearl......taking the plunge and want to try Norwegian

Good evening, the past 8 cruises and this up coming one has all been on Carnival and next year is our 50th birthdays and wanted to try something different.  So I'm looking at the Norwegian Pearl doing a 10 day Panama Canal.  Can people give me the pros and cons of the Pearl.  What I've seen on Youtube I like what I see but I would like some actual input from people who have sailed her. Thank you.

Been on the Pearl twice (last time end of 2013) We are family of 4 with elementary age kids and get the 2 bedroom suite. Ship was getting a little worn but I believe it has since been refurbished.  We like that there are not as many kids as Disney but they do a good job of having things for them to do (I know...but even people with kids dont always lIke to be around othe peoples kids ).  Not as many drunks as Carnival.  We also like that we can eat in the "restaurants" instead of the big dining rooms.  My wife says the spa on the Pearl is very good. Overall a nice mix of laid back but still some thing to do so we don't get bored. Heading out on the Jewel in a bit more than a week (same class ship).

I have been on the Pearl,  it is a nice ship and had good customer service.  I can recommend the French restaurant, the Steak House and if they have the Sea Day Indian lunch for $ 10.00 it was excellent.

Have a great cruise and please give a review when you get back.

Interesting why this thread has been resurrected and a don't expect the OP to read these comments but the Pearl was our first ever cruise and it was wonderful. The service on the ship was spot on and the food exemplary. No need to go to the speciality restaurants as the food in the MDR's and the buffet was excellent.

Thank you for all the input haven't made up our minds yet, will keep you informed.

Haven't been on the Pearl, but we have been on the GEM 3 times.  Our 4th time is this March.   She is one of our favourite ships.  I believe they are similar, along with the Jewel.  Norwegian's Freestyle may take a little getting used to, but we found we love it.  Very relaxed. Never any rushing about.     Enjoy the cruise.

Damn, I didn't look at the original post date, just the latest reply.

hope you enjoyed your cruise

I was obviously incorrect about the OP coming back to the thread 8 months down the line. I guess that their "next year" is now this year !!
