November 8th Cruise

Hi everyone!

I need some advice.

I'm about to go on a cruise on the crown princess from November the 8th to the 13th. When I booked the cruise I told the agent that I was prone to seasickness and preferred a cabin on a middle deck in the middle of the ship. When I got my guest check in e mail, I discovered that I am all of the way in front of the ship on a middle deck. My son is coming with me as well.

The last time he was on a cruise, he was 2. I don't remember him getting seasick at all. I called the cruise line and they told me that all of the cabins in the category i am in are sold out. I am on a waitlist but doubt anything would open up. I've also heard that forward cabins are the worst for motion/sea sickness.

I am scared to death. I am emetophobic (fear of throwing up) and have an anxiety disorder so I am a little more worried than usual. It's nuts because I have been cruising since I was 7. I've also had a couple of tough months at work and really would love for things to go great on this trip.

Any advice? I'm scared but do not want to back down or give in to fear. It does nothing.

Yes, go see your physician and see if you are a good candidate for a prescription of the "transderm" patch.  It works like a charm.  I am very motion sensitive and on several cruises where the bulk of folks had problems I was fine.

If you feel sick at night, while you are in bed, switch your body 90 degrees so you are sleeping across two beds.  Rocking head to toe is not as bad as side to side.

Other than that, I agree with the Transdermal Scope patch.

Take some ginger with you, either raw ginger or candied ginger. Ginger helps to calm a stomach. Sucking on a piece of ginger can help. Drinking or sipping ginger ale also helps. There are many that swear by the wrist bands that you can buy and frequently the store on the ship will have them.

Good luck. Hope you enjoy your cruise.

Bonine is an over the counter motion sickness medication that can be bought at Walmart etc. It's really cheap and works great without the side effect of being tired. Ginger Gravol chewable tablets also work well, and I've heard that green apples will also calm an upset stomach. Drinking ginger ale might help too.

Hope you have calm seas and enjoy your cruise.

How did you feel on the cruise?  Did you get a different cabin?

We’d all love to hear how your cruise went and if the advice given was helpful.

A reply here would be great - the OP hasn't posted a review either.m
