Norwegian raising daily charges AGAIN !

just received this e mail ;

Norwegian Cruise Line is making a nominal adjustment to its daily service charges, effective April 1, 2018. Norwegian's discretionary daily service charges make it easy for guests to provide gratuities to the onboard staff dedicated to delivering superior guest service throughout the cruise. The new rates are: $14.50 per person per day for any category up to a mini-suite stateroom $17.50 per person per day for any suite or The Haven category

Any guest that has made a booking by March 31, 2018 will have the option of prepaying their service charges at the current rate if done prior to sail date. Guests with existing cruise reservations who have already pre-paid their service charges at the current rate are not affected.

expect rt others to follow shortly

we all hate price increase but we all like getting a raise at our jobs. Also.. We all like good service and good food and better and new ships... So it is what it is... Inflation will all be there... Can't do it without money provided by the consumer. Nothing is free in life...

I too hate the daily gratuity increase but you know what, sailing is still way less expensive than booking your own hotel, adding restaurants, and then trying to take in a decent show. Out of my 15 plus sailings over the past 20 plus years, I have received exceptional service from the majority of services offered on those sailings. There has only been a few personnel that were disgruntled and did not provide the service you expected or wanted. But if you give this any thought, it may be because of the minimal pay, long hours and possibly not everyone tipping. I agree with OldGreyWolf, the increases for services are inevitable like death and taxes. The day when you can enjoy a great vacation that is cheaper than a cruise, I will switch over, until then, enjoy cruising.
