NCL Gem Cruise to Canada

I have never trusted that "guaranteed stateroom" and will never use it. ‚ Its so obvious that its whatever is left over and will be the worst rooms on the ship in whatever category you choose.‚

I just booked my first guaranteed room, and am starting to get nervous, but everyone has different experiences.

Guaranteed cabin, or guaranteed category ?  I've never heard of the former.  How can you guarantee a cabin unless you book it ?

its a pricing policy (at a pretty significant discount) whereby you are guaranteed a cabin in a particular category, but you won't find out what room you are in until you arrive.  The idea is the cruise ship will continue to let people pick out what stateroom they want (I pick exactly the room I want, aka, away from the elevators, or  not too far from a staircase, etc,) and folks continue to do that, and the cruise ship knows to shut down that category when there are only xxx rooms left whereby xxx is the number of rooms they have sold under the "guaranteed cabin" sales.   This way the cruise ship can maximize selling the cabins at the higher "pick your room" price but still offer a lower price for those that don't care where their stateroom is.   the downside is the rooms that are left for last (even within a category,) are last for a reason.
