Terrible cruise experience

Thanks for a very interesting review. My wife and I will be on the Dawn in April and May next year for a combined itinerary from New Orleans to Boston then on the Bermuda. We will keep some of your comments in mind. We tend to chose inside rooms ourselves and the last time on the Dawn we were on deck 11.

I have been to the 24 hour rest. on deck 8 and had no trouble whatsoever. Same with the dining room and with the anytime dining. I would tend to think that these events you describe maybe just an anomaly. I do agree that the photgs on board are pretty good, as the collection we have from the Dawn is quite extensive and yes---a bit costly. But we budgeted for that.

Home you have a better trip next time.

On the NCL Star I had the same problem with the dining room, we gave up and went to the extra pay restaurants. I think they plan it that way to get the extra $$$ out of you. I do appreciate that your review was balanced and gave high marks to the good aspects of the cruise.

When we were on the Dawn a few years ago she was great.  She probably needs some drydock upgrades by now.  We also took her to BERMUDA, but out of NY.   Now, the Gem leaves from NY to BERMUDA, as does the Breakaway.  Of the two, we prefer the Gem.

I don't think NCLs intention is to chase anyone into the optional restaurants for the revenue.  That would backfire quite quickly.   We enjoy some of the dining options when we travel.  We always eat in the ship steakhouse.  On NCL, we also enjoy LeBistro and the Hibachi restaurant.   

Sorry you had a bad experience.  Truth is, it can, and does, happen on many lines.   All you can do is look forward to your next cruise, and put this one behind you.  It's happened to us too.
