Was the canceled shore excursion booked through the ship or on your own ? I had the same issue when booking my own excursion on St Lucia :-(

I booked my excursions with NCL.
I book these a month or two before we go.
They did refund me, but the day was lost.
However, due to the steering problem on the ship which was no big deal, we did get to spend another half day in Bermuda so all was not lost.
Thank you for clarifying. I understand what you mean about the day being lost. It has happened to us as well. We got a refund but it was no consolation to the fact that we could have done something else with our time other than sit around all morning.
So the ship was at fault. I would hope that besides a refund they should have also given you dinner for 2 in a restaurant or a bottle of wine or ruining your day.
Sorry to read that the day was ruined for your husband because of a cancelled excursion.
In the end it all worked out for we got to spend a half day there the next day.
