Cruise Fever reports: Royal Caribbean Planning Major Expansion at PortMiami
"Royal Caribbean is planning a major expansion at PortMiami that will not only double the annual number of Royal Caribbean passengers at the port, but would have a berth large enough for an Oasis class ship..."
Hmm, that could mean Royal Caribbean ships will be leaving other home ports…
There is quite a bit of controversy with this expansion so I am pretty sure it is not going to happen overnight. Modernizing port facilities should be on all cruise line radars. Even though these are transit points, it both begins and ends one's cruising experience. I can see how lounge areas could be another revenue stream for the lines if people are willing to fork out the dough.
