I noticed not much if any free time to explore the island on your own..... everything planned out for you so you see what they want you to see.  No mention of regular cruise ship activities except for one hour to go to the spa, yoga lesson and charged for things.

I'm beginning to see the fathom cruises as a different experience. When the news first broke about going to the Dominican, then now Cuba as well, It seemed like a novel approach for some to visit these areas to get a sense of the area away from the tourist and vendor stalls. I will wait to see what reviews say about the concept. I am still somewhat interested along with a few of my friends to see what this idea brings forth.

For the Cuba trips, that's what is required under US law to operate as "people to people" exchanges - it's the same with the companies offering land excursions to the island. Everything has to be planned out at events interacting with Cuban residents, with essentially no free or discretionary time. It's the only way they can legally offer these cruises at the present time under the embargo that's still in place.

I, too, am still interested in visiting Cuba but plan on waiting to see what passengers say about this and other cruises offered.  Prices seem very high.

We are not going to be an early adopter where Cuba is concerned, but we are interested in visiting at some point in the future.
