NCL getting new hull art designer. Peter Max is out.

NCL, known for using Peter Max to design their hulls, has decided to draw inspiration from a different art company, beginning with the Bliss, due out in 2018.   Hulls will now be decorated with artwork from White Mountain, a company best known for printing and selling jigsaw puzzles.  According to NCL spokesperson Valerie Buttonwood, the new designs are fun and will bring back memories for our patrons.   Who wouldn't want to see old time games or candy wrappers painted on a ship ?   The Bliss will be adorned with a puzzle titled  I Had One of Those.    Copies of the puzzle will be available in the gift shop on board.

I'm trying to imagine those as hull art -- I just cannot make it work in my mind.

Although I am not a fan of Peter Max, his hull art at least lent some definition to the ship.

Princess' Sea Witch on their ships is at least somewhat tasteful.

Putting a candy bar wrapper on the hull is a bit too far (in my own small mind, anyway).

Fortunately, my mind is broad enough for both of us.

It may not work right at times, but there is a lot of unused space up there.   I'm not really sure who is pulling the levers.

I like the designs on the ships now - until I see an NCL ship with the new design on it, I will hold onto my skeptical judgement of how it will look.

Bonnie, please have a second cup of coffee, on me.   I don't think you are quite awake yet.   Keep in mind who wrote this post Big Smile

That would break a friend of mine's heart!  She is such a Pete Max fan that anything else might send her overboard.  But considering the source.....

Hope  it's not this

But that would be fun to watch all the other ships avoid docking next to it!Big Smile

Hiding my head - sometimes I surprise myself at how I can fall for your humour. You got me once again, BAK. LOL

Personally, I much prefer the ice cream logo - it better flows with the lines of the ship.

I think, though, that this logo would go better on Carnival ships due to the cherry on top.

Besides, they are already pretty well Peter Maxed out already!
