Curious season cruisers that might read this review by the way your mother should never be in that situation period tighten that up a little. In this situation should she have to pay gratuities at full cost or at least at a reduced compensated rate looking at the photos they may have a gripe or two.

I find the comment that your mother believes RCI trends toward older guests interesting. I've never been on any RCCI affiliates however have a lot of friends who have. For the most part, they all agree that this description from Berlitz of RCI fits the cruise experience of this line appropriately:
"Royal Caribbean International is really good for the Caribbean especially for first time cruisers and families. The ships are liked by active young-minded cruisers and solo cruisers of all ages, and families with toddlers, children, and teenagers who enjoy mingling in a large ship setting with plenty of life and bright lighting everywhere. The food is more about quantity than quality."
Doesn't sound like a haven for those in their advanced years to me.
So sorry that so many things went wrong. I do think that it is a shame when passengers have to wait out in the sun when the temperatures could be in the 80-90s. It happened to me once. I hope that the next cruise that you & your mom go on has less problems.
