Must haves

What are your must haves to pack when going on a cruise?  This will be my first ever and looking for tips and tricks so we won't need to use spending money to buy what we may have at home. 13 year old child will be going so I know extra outlets for her gaming gear.

Any over the counter medications, like tums, aspirin, cold meds, etc.  Sun screen, I know that seems obvious, but you'd be surprised how many people forget (don't forget to apply to the tops of your feet).  Others might come up with more and I'll keep thinking.

Welcome to cruising and the forum!

powerstrip (without surge protection and carried on the ship), headache medication, ear plugs for shows that may get too loud, sandals, just to name a few of things I forgot to bring and really wanted to have.

Bandaids, Glade plugin (some rooms are a little musty). If you tend to get cold, a sweater for the evenings. Don't pack too many clothes, you wont wear them all. I brought Clorox wipes and hand sanitizer. Aloe Vera gel for sun burn (because sometimes it happens), Dramamine, definitely a power strip. Oh don't drink the bottled water in your room (they charge for that). If you plan on swimming, 2 swim suits because I was told they don't dry overnight (and who wants to put on a cold, damp suit the next day). a relaxed sense of humor. Things happen, don't allow little things ruin your whole vacation.

Thank you

As well as all the other mentioned items we always bring a hand full of zip lock bags as they are great for keeping papers, passports, and money dry when anywhere wet and since you will have a 13 yr old a small whiteboard to leave notes on in the cabin.

Thank you.  White board is a wonderful idea.  Never thought about that.

One thing that has really helped us is to get a waterproof organizer with tabs to arrange our travel docs in the order that we will need them.

Passport

Boarding Pass

Wife

(Not necessarily in that order!) Anything else can be purchased.

Aside from clothes and shoes, a three way outlet (power strips may not be allowed on board due to power surge protection being dangerous to the ship), charger cords, camera, batteries, first aid kit (with pills for whatever may ail you), sewing kit.

Spare pair of glasses

Gaming gear ?    You bring electronic games for your child ?    I thought these cruise ships had plenty for everyone of all ages.  Why does she need to bring toys from home ?
